An overview

Coaching offers guidance where the client is the expert. It is the process where we collaborate together to explore goals and strengths to create meaningful action steps. Whether you would like to make big life changes, are currently undergoing them, want to instil new habits or change old ones, coaching is here to help you find the best way suited for you to traverse them. I started coaching sessions as a client and continued for three years, experiencing firsthand what a difference it can make. I didn’t know until a few years later that I wanted to contribute to mental health as a Coach myself.

Coaching vs. Therapy

Whilst coaching and therapy are different in some ways, they both aim to help someone understand themselves better and implement changes that improve their overall well-being. Therapy can be better seen as taking someone from negative to 0, or baseline, and coaching from 0 and upwards. In coaching, we focus on the goals, betterments and improvements that takes you where you want to go. We look to a future that the client envisions and wants to create. These goals are highly personal to the individual since we find the most motivation doing the things that align closest to our values. Coaching is designed so that the client becomes equipped with the tools they need to move themselves into their future. Eventually, coaching ends when a client feels confident to reach their goals autonomously. Of course, we can return to coaching at any time and the duration of coaching will differ depending on the client but the ultimate aim is to equip the client with enough skills so they feel self-efficacious in envisioning and achieving their goals.

Coaching style

My coaching style is tailored to each client. Sometimes clients require a judgement-free and safe space to confide in someone before really understanding what they need. Often, through a patient and listening ear, clients discover what they really value and cherish. The goals in coaching are deeply personal and vary between big life projects to immediate action steps. I use strength-based and value-based strategies to help clients discern their true motivations behind their goals in order to find action steps that align with their authentic wishes.
